Lock Re-Key & Installation in San Diego Office

Our dispatcher got a call from a contractor who needed a locksmith for an office construction site. He needed to re-key the main door locks and to install a push bar or also known as a panic or exit bar lock on the back door for safety and security. A QLP Locksmith technician arrived at the site in a short amount of time and re-keyed the front door locks which were two mortise cylinder locks installed in an Adams Rite latching system. The technician master keyed the commercial locks with “Do Not Duplicate” keys so that different levels of employees would have different key privileges, for example, a regular employee might have the key to only lock the office but not unlock it, while a manager would be able to unlock and lock the office. The locks were also keyed to the rim-cylinder lock which connected to the panic exit bar so that the same key would be able to unlock the back door from the outside.

As seen in the photo, the push bar lock has already been mounted and is nearly completely installed. The technician is using a leveler to ensure that the bar is straight before the trim plates are put on. The panic bar has a “dogging” function which allows the exit bar to be left unlocked throughout business hours by using a key to enable or disable the function mechanically, even if the door is shut. It works by retracting the latching mechanism in just enough so that the latch does not catch and lock on the strike plate. When installed, this system is calibrated so it works efficiently. Due to shifts in a building over time or a worn strike plate, the locking mechanism may need to be re-calibrated. The locks worked well, the contractor got a reliable warranty, and he was satisfied with the service. If you need a commercial locksmith to install or repair a panic bar; or to re-key or unlock mortise locks, then call QLP Locksmith San Diego for fast and affordable locksmith service today!
